AMERICAN COMIC BOOK CHRONICLES is a series of comic book history volumes that I edit (and often co-write) for TwoMorrows Publishing. Each volume focuses on a specific decade (from the 1940s to the 1990s) and narrates the history of the comic book industry year by year.
I started working on this series in late 2008 and I've often joked with John Morrow (TwoMorrows' publisher) that this has taken years off my life. The project has two connected challenges: (1) performing painstaking research and (2) shaping that research into a historical narrative that is enjoyable to read. Too many people to list here have poured their blood, sweat, and tears to get each volume completed. The one man I have relied on for EVERY volume has been John Wells. Without him, the series wouldn't deserve to see print....
