Back in those halcyon Comicbloc.com days, Robert Saunders used to post his artwork on one of its forums.  The VERY MOMENT I laid eyes on his work, I became determined to work with him. That opportunity came when I pitched him a science fiction series titled THE ARGONAUTS, about a group of time-displaced characters (three from the far future and three from medieval Scandinavia) who are brought to the present day (where two other main characters reside) to stop an alien invasion of Earth.

While turning down the opportunity to edit the series, my Omega Chase editor Egg Embry made a great suggestion: when I was describing the series' concept to him, I got to a point where I said, "And then the characters begin to coordinate their efforts" (or words to that effect). Egg then interrupted me to explain that since these characters all hail from different time periods and locations, NONE OF THEM should be able to understand each other (and don't get him started on some storytelling convenience, like STAR TREK's "universal translator"). And with that, I found my principal theme: THE ARGONAUTS is a "Tower of Babel" story where characters have to overcome the inability to communicate in order to thwart an alien invasion.

Kevin Powers graciously agreed to publish the series, and Robert and I produced six issues, collected into a trade paperback, thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign.
